Symmons Industries is proud to announce that Erin Bailey of Denton, TX was the 2017 recipient of the Product Design Competition Scholarship, in partnership with NEWH, The Hospitality Industry Network. The scholarship challenges college students majoring in hospitality interior design or architecture to design a faucet for hypothetical clients.
Erin is currently pursuing a BFA in Interior Design at the University of North Texas where she also serves as an officer of the UNT chapter of the Interior Design Society of America as a student mentor. She says that through her experience, she has observed how each person thinks of their daily surroundings in unique ways and seeks to bring that inspiration to her work.
Erin’s design is based off the idea that a true host provides luxury to their guests while also giving hotel owners a stylish yet sustainable option. The Sinuo faucet is a contemporary design that was inspired by a winding river (Sinuo is the Latin word for curve in the river) that also features the Symmons customized water-saving aerator.
The Product Design Competition Scholarship will help Erin graduate on time and ready to enter the workforce. She plans to pay it forward by continuing her involvement in interior design professional organizations as well as her alma mater, UNT.
